Participant-based Approach

APPLICATION OF THE PARTICIPANT-BASED APPROACH IN PLANNING AND SUPPORT

The participant-based approach is fundamental in the work of the Red Cross and is one of the prerequisites for achieving the beneficial influence that the institution aims for in the respective areas, defined by its mission and vision. Rooted in the principles of open participation, voluntary action, competence development, efficiency and resource mobilization, the “Active community participation” approach creates the appropriate environment for the adequate and active response of BRC to the humanitarian issues that it tackles. The positive tendencies related to the application of this approach lead both to increased organizational capacity and permanent improvements in the quality of life of the vulnerable population in the involved communities. The BRC structures that regularly apply the practice of attracting external partners in the planning of humanitarian projects, report significant progress in establishing good practices and sustainable programs in favor of the needy.
