Observed housing of the Bulgarian Red Cross "Colorful House" was established within the project "Social Program for Services and Support of Children and Young People Leaving Social Institutions", which is implemented with the support of the Velux Foundation and the International Federation of Red Cross / Red Crescent Societies.
The activity of the monitored housing is aimed at providing shelter and support to young people aged 18 to 29, physically and mentally healthy, who are raised in specialized institutions for children. The aim of the service is the reintegration of young people into society by raising their education and professional qualifications and acquiring basic skills for independent living in a family-like environment. The capacity of the apartment is 12 people, and the length of stay - from three months to one year, depending on the individual needs of young people.
Within the framework of the social service, young people are provided with social and psychological consultations concerning:
We motivate young people to work, to know their civil rights and obligations, to pay taxes, to find a permanent job and accommodation, to start an independent life.
The Colorful House opened its doors in January 2012. Since then, it has supported 89 young people in the process of their reintegration into society. Of these for three years:
The system of methods for working with young people from this target group, developed by the team of the monitored housing, develops in them confidence in their own potential, a sense of competitiveness, proactivity, system and consistency in action.

Mentoring program of BRCY volunteers. Volunteers of the Bulgarian Youth Red Cross help young people in the "Colorful House" in their self-preparation for school, to take state matriculation exams and to apply to universities.
The young people from the monitored dwelling socialize successfully by participating in activities and trainings of the Bulgarian Red Cross.

In order to maintain the effectiveness of the activity presented so far, we are looking for new partners for the cause of the Observed Housing.

- the choice of possible alternatives for continuing education and training in a profession, including inclusion in evening and individual forms of training for secondary education, in educational courses tailored to the capabilities and interests of young people, applying to university;
- career guidance and motivation for the right professional choice, including training in job search skills, behavior during an interview with an employer, the formation of work habits and perseverance in the performance of professional duties;
- daily living and social skills - training in time planning, budgeting, goal setting, communication skills, mastering effective behavioral patterns;
- formation of a sense of confidence and competitiveness, of adequate self-esteem.

- 54% have continued their education;
- 18% are accepted as students;
- 23% have completed educational and professional courses;
- 43% found a job, and 37% continued to work sustainably even after leaving the monitored home;
- 46% live alone in accommodation.

- We use positive methods of work. We teach young people by supporting their positive actions and example;
- We encourage initiative, creativity and independence in decision making;
- We work with each of them on an individual plan, tailored to its capabilities and needs.
