Swiss Model for Integrated Medical and Social Home Care is Introduced in Bulgaria
The Bulgarian Red Cross, the Bulgarian Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, the Bulgarian Ministry of Health and the Swiss Red Cross introduced together for first time in Bulgaria the Swiss model for providing comprehensive medical and social home care at home.
The new model is a form of long-term care for the elderly and people with chronic diseases and disabilities, taking into account the specific needs of the representatives of the Roma community.

The Home care towards independent and dignified life was presented at press conference on 18th January in the Museum hall of the Bulgarian Red Cross with the participation of:
  • Her Excellency Regina Esher - Ambassador of Switzerland in Bulgaria;
  • Tomislav Donchev - Minister for the Management of EU funds and Head of the National Coordination of the Bulgarian-Swiss Program for Cooperation to the
Council of Ministers;
  • Totio Mladenov - Minister of Labour and Social Policy;
  • Dr. Stefan Konstantinov - Minister of Health;
  • Dr. Ianko Zdravkov - Member of 41 National Assembly, Vratsa region;
  • Martin Fuhrer - Head of the International Cooperation Department in the Swiss Red Cross;
  • Hristo Grigorov - Chairman of the Bulgarian Red Cross;
representatives of the National Assembly, the BRC, BMA, BAPNC, NHIF, etc.

The project is supported by the Swiss Confederation in the framework of thr Swiss contribution to EU enlargement and it is part of the Thematic fund “Fund for reforms associated with the inclusion of Rome and other vulnerable groups on the provision of services for home care’’.

During the press-conference was given information about the importance of specific project objectives for employment creation and expansion of services in the community.
