The Bulgarian Red Cross and the Magen David Adom in Israel are assisting injured Israeli tourists
Bulgarian Red Cross teams working for more than 15 hours without a break at the location of the accident in Burgas

Immediately after the unprecedented terrorist act conducted at Burgas airport against Israeli citizens, the National Emergency Operational Headquarters of the BRC has been summoned. The Headquarters informed the Europe Zone Office of the IFRC about the accident and maintains permanent contact with the experts of the International Federation. Immediate contact was established with the Magen David Adom in Israel. The BRC maintains permanent contact also with the Bulgarian security authorities, with the State leadership involved in the operation.

During the first hour after the accident, the BRC branch in Burgas has setup a team of staff and volunteers. The Volunteer Disaster Response Team of the BRC Burgas has also been deployed. The two teams permanently work both at the airport and at the Burgas hospital. The Israeli citizens are provided with water, food and medical care. Bulgarian Red Cross psychologists ensure psycho-social support to over 200 people blocked at Sarafovo airport (Burgas).

Last night, the BRC - Burgas met and provided logistical support to the representatives of the Magen David Adom in Israel, led by its Director General - Mr. Eli Bin, MFA of Israel, media, paramedics and other specialists, who arrived to assist the injured Israeli citizens. The BRC helped their transportation to the hospital of Burgas, where the provision of care to the injured continues, together with the Bulgarian medical personnel continues.

This morning, the BRC - Burgas, with the support of Burgas municipality, also opened 2 distribution points providing refreshment drinks and snacks to those in need. Two more teams from the BRC regional branches in Yambol and Varna are travelling to the location of the accident to reinforce the teams of the BRC branch - Burgas.

The BRC President Hristo Grigorov and Director General Assoc. Prof. Krassimir Gigov are on their way to Burgas, where they will meet the Director General of the Magen David Adom in Israel, Mr. Eli Bin and will coordinate the joint activities of assisting and transportation of the injured.
The President of the BRC sent a letter of condolence to the President of the Magen David Adom in Israel and to the Embassy of Israel in Bulgaria.
