Home Care towards Independent and Dignified Life
Bulgarian Red Cross, together with the Healthcare Committee and the Labour and Social Policy Committee at the National Assembly, organized a round table on the topic "Home Care towards Independent and Dignified Life". The goal was to present the project as well as to initiate a discussion about the elaborated proposal for legislative changes in terms of regulation of home care services in Bulgaria.
The round table was attended by Dr. Daniela Daritkova - Chairperson of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Dragomir Stoynev - Chairman of the Parliamentary Labour and Social Policy Committee, Dr. Plamen Tsekov – Chairman of the National Health Insurance Fund, Mrs. Valentina Simeonova – Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Dr. Mincho Vichev – Deputy Minister of Health, Ms. Dessislava Dimitrova – Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Dimitar Lenkov – Chief Secretary of the Bulgarian Doctors’ Association, Milka Vassileva – Chairperson of the Bulgarian Association of Professionals in Nursing Care, Hristo Grigorov - President of the BRC, members of both Committees, representatives of local institutions and project partners.
The proposal for legislative changes elaborated within the project "Home Care towards Independent and Dignified Life" provoked a lively discussion. The members of the Parliamentary committees as well as the representatives of the institutions and non-governmental organizations present declared support for the introduction of this innovative approach for integrated provision of social and health services to one of the most vulnerable group of society – older people. It was emphasized that the sustainable provision of these services in the future requires collaboration of different institutions, which is reflected in the proposal for legislative changes.
Within the following months, further discussion with the project partners and other stakeholders is about to finalize the proposal for legislative regulation of home care services in order to submit it to the National Assembly.
