Challenges in Dealing with Asylum-seekers
Mariana Stoyanova, Programme Manager of Refugee-Migrant Service of the Bulgarian Red Cross and Linda Awanis, Chairperson of the Council of Refugee Women in Bulgaria participated in the two training sessions organized by the Association for Integration of Refugees and Migrants (AIRM), Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Bulgaria and the State Agency for Refugees (SAR).
The training was attended by experts from various institutions, working with refugees and migrants. They become acquainted with the regulations, concerning the types of protection, rights and obligations, health insurance and access to medical care, the challenges in working with unaccompanied minors in the country.
Mariana Stoyanova presented the topic The Experience of NGOs Working with Asylum-seekers in Bulgaria and Linda Awanis informed on Countries of origin and specifics when dealing with asylum-seekers and refugees from different cultures and religions.
Mariana Stoyanova was part of the team that trained security guards working at SAR’s Transit Center in Pastrogor, near Svilengrad. She presented the topic Profile of the Main Countries of Origin of Asylum-seekers and the activities of the Bulgarian Red Cross. Moderator of both trainings was Marinela Radeva, president of AIRM.
