Young Red Cross members supported lorry-drivers at the Bulgarian-Greek border
Bulgarian Red Cross organized a humanitarian action in aid of lorry-drivers at the Bulgarian-Greek Border.
Volunteers from the Youth Rescue Team in Blagoevgrad distributed food, mineral water and sanitary materials to over 250 people who were waiting for hours at the blocked border to pass on Greek territory. In the night temperatures were -11, -12° C.
Bulgarian Red Cross in agreement with the Ministry of Health, local government, Civil Protection and Border Police will continue its assistance in case of prolonged blockade. Bulgarian Red Cross informed the headquarter of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent in Geneva on the crisis situation.
