The Bulgarian Red Cross has sent a letter of compassion to the Norwegian Red Cross regarding the tragic events in the capital Oslo and the Utoya Island
The letter reads as follows: “The Bulgarian Red Cross Society has learnt with deep concern of the loss of lives and the injuries following the tragic events in the capital Oslo and Utoya Island.
At this critical time of grief, the Bulgarian Red Cross offers its sincere sympathies and endorses the prompt actions that the Norwegian Red Cross has taken. We are sure that the Norwegian Red Cross staff and volunteers will continue their unremitting efforts in the search for missing and will keep on providing care and psychological support to affected families and children.
As a long-term partner of the Norwegian Red Cross, we are deeply shocked by the attacks in a country famous for its world solidarity activities and for the promotion of peace in the world. Our joint humanitarian commitment towards a culture of non-violence, clearly outlined in Strategy 2020, and the solid, years - long experience of the Norwegian Red Cross in the field of prevention of violence, makes it impossible to accept the aggression of these two acts.
We hope that with the persistent support of the Norwegian Red Cross, also at community level, people will be able to get back to normal living and overcome the misfortune they have gone through.
Once again, we would like to express our condolences to the victims and their families as well as our sympathy with the Norwegian Red Cross and the people of Norway."
