Seventy years after the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japanese Red Cross Society hospitals are still treating thousands of survivors for long-term health effects, with nearly two-thirds of deaths among them due to cancer.
The raised funds are placed at disposal of the International Federation of Red Cross/Red Crescent Societies (IFRC/RC). According to the needs assessment after the disaster, the IFRC/RC appealed for raising 85 million CHF to support the Red Cross activities in Nepal.
