Humanitarian aid

The BRC has a key role in providing humanitarian assistance to vulnerable groups by raising donations from humanitarian goods and providing them to those in need.
The National Council of the Bulgarian Red Cross and the 28 Regional Councils work with more than 100 major donor organizations, including partner national Red Cross societies and other humanitarian agencies, mainly from Europe and North America.
The received humanitarian aid is stored mainly in the central Warehouse of the Bulgarian Red Cross (over 3000 sq. M. Warehouse area) and the newly opened interregional disaster warehouse in Dobrich.
Humanitarian aid is provided to a huge number of beneficiaries in response to their needs and various forms of vulnerability - disasters, social and economic difficulties, etc. In the country, the aid is distributed among needy social institutions, hospitals, centers for people with disabilities, people affected by disasters, socially disadvantaged communities, ethnic minorities, refugees, families with single parents and others. In distributing aid in Bulgaria, the BRC works in cooperation with over 50 local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), each of which serves a separate vulnerable group. In accordance with the will of the donors, part of the received goods is distributed to the disaster reserve of the Bulgarian Red Cross and its renewal.
In coordination with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the BRC also provides international humanitarian assistance to disaster-stricken NDs in response to appeals.
