Men

In the school yard we are surrounded by several men, one takes a little girl by the hand and tells:
- What to speak? I was with them on the minibus and with a family. The whole family died. The girl and I were on the bus from Aleppo to Afrin. A government plane fired at us on the way. People died and the wounded, including this girl, went to hospital. She needs treatment. I have been in Bulgaria for a month. The girl needs treatment, and we were told "Wait 2 months and you will receive status" so that her health insurance will be issued. We do not want to wait for health insurance, we want to leave because of her treatment.
- ... And I was with the girl and my whole body is in fragments, I have a fragment near the heart. I want treatment. We asked a doctor and he told us that maybe they would do an operation on me, maybe not. I was told that the treatment was with money. It's all about money. I want to leave because of the treatment. She has splinters in her head. I ask the Red Cross to help us leave.

He does not want to be photographed, like the other occupants of the densely populated room. He agrees to record his voice. Another resident wants to be photographed, but has no interest in an interview.
- What is your name?
- Francois.

- How old?
- On the 27th.
- Where are you from?
- From Syria.
- How are you, are you satisfied with the help you receive from the Red Cross here in Sofia?
- Sometimes we receive, but it is not good, because we can not always take advantage. For example, they give us potatoes, but we can't eat them.
- No potatoes were given by the Bulgarian Red Cross. We have only delivered food packages with cans, biscuits and other things - diapers, milk.
- It's for children.
- At the moment you will receive assistance from the Bulgarian Red Cross, do you have a person in charge of the room? He will give you names, bring you food packages.
- This is good. If possible, more comfortable beds, cleaning appliances.

- A week ago we handed out cleaning supplies, detergents, brooms, buckets to the people in charge of the floors in the building.
- We also need shaving tools, we are young men and families take everything. There is only for them. Nobody cares about others.

- If you have a person in charge of the room, he will introduce you to the Bulgarian Red Cross and will help you get your food packages now, and we will write down that you need things to shave.

The room accommodates over 20 young men. They cook for themselves. In front of the sacks of potatoes donated by someone unknown.
