The Refugee and Migrant Service of the Bulgarian Red Cross is helping Ukraine

From the very beginning of the military conflict in Ukraine, the Refugee-Migrant Service (BMS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross has been assisting those who have arrived in Bulgaria. BMS social workers are among the first to welcome people seeking humanitarian support. Ukrainian citizens turn to us with specific questions related to both essentials and purely life cases of accommodation, travel, emergency care, pregnancy and childbirth, vaccination of children, enrollment in schools and kindergartens, care for pets, etc.
For some people who have left Ukraine, the need to communicate in their native language in a foreign country is as important and necessary as food, water and warm blankets. It is because of this fact that Ukrainians are greeted by BMS employees in their native language to ensure that they are understood and cared for in the best possible way.
The entire BMS team at the Bulgarian Red Cross is aware of the importance of the need for calm, psychological support and purely human support for the victims of the conflict in Ukraine. That is why we are at the forefront on weekdays, weekends and holidays. We invite them to receive a document for temporary protection (if they still do not have one, for one reason or another), so that they can take advantage of all the opportunities provided for medical care and work in Sofia and other cities. We support them by purchasing medicines prescribed by Bulgarian doctors. We organize Bulgarian courses for all who wish to learn the language of our country . We also contribute to the adequate inclusion in the labor market , as the Bulgarian Red Cross of the Bulgarian Red Cross is a partner in organizing the Career Forum for Refugees, which will be held on May 19, 2022.
The support and integration of all those who have left their homeland for one reason or another are among the main priorities of the BMS.
We will continue to do the same for Ukrainian citizens as long as necessary.
