

In 2007, by a decision of the National Council of the Bulgarian Red Cross, a Monetary Fund for Disaster Relief was established.
Depending on the constantly changing situation and conditions, the organization works actively to provide methodological assistance to the Regional Councils of the Bulgarian Red Cross on issues related to disaster response (crises).
The BRC participates in the National Disaster Protection Plan by performing the following tasks:
- creates voluntary formations to provide assistance to the population in case of disasters;
- creates and maintains a reserve of basic necessities for initial assistance to the victims;
- maintains central and inter-regional warehouses with a reserve of property for the needy;
- maintains a radio - communication network of HF and VHF frequencies for the territory of the country and connection with neighboring national companies and IFRC / PE;
- interacts and coordinates with governmental and non-governmental structures involved in conducting rescue operations in the event of disasters;
- maintains contact and coordination with IFRC / PE, etc. national companies for attracting, receiving and distributing in accordance with the established procedure of international aid if necessary.
- collects and distributes domestic and international aid to the population in the affected areas.
The Bulgarian Red Cross can in short terms provide water purification installations on the line of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Plants with a capacity of 100,000 liters per day. The organization has trained staff to work with water treatment plants.
The Bulgarian Red Cross is a well-prepared authoritative humanitarian organization with opportunities, approaches and activities for the realization of its mission and auxiliary role of a partner of the state in case of disasters, accidents and catastrophes.

Logistical support was provided to the arriving representatives of the Red Shield of Israel.
