Through its 12 public canteens, the Bulgarian Red Cross provides free lunch to a total of 989 vulnerable citizens who, due to financial, financial or health problems, cannot afford it or prepare it themselves at home. To ensure the activity of the dining rooms, in 6 cities of the country are provided accessible and appropriately furnished and equipped premises in which all sanitary requirements are observed. The dining rooms have appropriate staff who have the necessary documents to work in a food establishment, according to current legislation.
Free meals are provided once a day, every weekday and include: soup, main course and bread. The needy citizens submit documents in advance to the respective Regional Councils of the Bulgarian Red Cross, and the selection of the most vulnerable citizens to be assisted is made by specially formed commissions.
