
Today, March 2, 2022, on the eve of the 144th anniversary of the Liberation of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Red Cross paid tribute to the Doctor's Monument and paid tribute to the memory of medics who died saving lives in the horror of battles in trenches and infirmaries during of the Russo-Turkish War of Liberation.
The President of the Bulgarian Red Cross, Acad. Hristo Grigorov , gave a short speech in which he said: “ Here, on the stone pages of this holy monument, are written the names of 531 medical ranks as a sign of deep gratitude and to remain forever in Bulgarian historical memory. The Doctor's Monument is a humanitarian message and testament, which is invariably followed by the Bulgarian Red Cross and military medics. He will gather here the generations after us, because he has become an eternal symbol of faith in humanity and in the good. A deep homage to the holy work of the medical heroes! “
Wreaths were presented in front of the Doctor's Monument on behalf of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Minister of Defense, the Chief of Defense, the Bulgarian Red Cross, the Ombudsman of the Republic of Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Medical Union, the Association of Health Care Specialists, Military -Medical Academy, Alexandrovska Hospital, the Russian Embassy in Sofia and the Moscow Cultural and Business Center. Dozens of citizens also took part in the worship.
