The 23rd session of the General Assembly of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Statutory Meetings of the Movement will be held in Geneva from 19 to 21 June 2022, during which priorities for the next 2 years.
During the forum, a representative of the 192 National Societies elected the new leadership of the International Federation. Francesco Roca has been re-elected as the new president of the IFRC for a new four-year term. Bolaji Anani (Nigeria), Miguel Sieraalta (Venezuela), Maha Al-Barjas (Kuwait) and Natya Loladze (Georgia) were elected vice presidents. The Fifth Vice-President is ex officio and belongs to the state in which the headquarters of the Federation is located. This is Brigita Heidient, vice-president of the Swiss Red Cross.
A new Governing Board was elected, which will manage the activities of the federation for the next 4 years. In addition to the president and vice presidents, it includes representatives of 20 national societies. Recognition for the work of the Bulgarian Red Cross was the election of the Secretary General of the organization Dr. Sofia Stoimenova, who will be part of the Board of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.Members of the General Assembly meet every two years to discuss the future development of the International Movement, to explore ways in which the world's largest humanitarian network can step up its efforts to address the most pressing current humanitarian issues. the world is upright. This year's motto is "Local Action, Global Reach", with delegates discussing topics such as trust and integrity, localization, volunteering and investing in national companies.
The delegation of the Bulgarian Red Cross includes Steli Dzhambazova, member of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Red Cross and chair of the Bulgarian Red Cross, Dr. Sofia Stoimenova, Secretary General, and Preslava Lilova, Director of the International Cooperation and Projects Directorate.
