Since the beginning of the military conflict in Ukraine, the BRC has sent over 225 tons of aid (new clothes, shoes, supplies, hygiene materials, etc. ) to support the local population through the Ukrainian Red Cross, the International Federation of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent.
More than 60 thousand Ukrainian citizens who remained in Bulgaria were assisted with basic necessities. More than 120 thousand have been distributed. number of different food packages and water. Over 31 thousand. people received hygiene packs and materials, medicines, clothes, bedding, etc.
The Bulgarian Red Cross has opened a "hotline" for consultations and psycho-social assistance to the Ukrainian citizens who have arrived in Bulgaria, where more than 12 600 people have sought assistance. Together with the Ministry of Health, the Bulgarian Red Cross also opened a "hotline" on medical and healthcare options in our country, which has been contacted by more than 1,300 people. So far, BRC staff have assisted 483 Ukrainian citizens in their efforts to restore family links. Since the beginning of the military conflict in Ukraine, the Bulgarian Red Cross has mobilized nearly 4,900 staff and volunteers across the country and organized aid stations for Ukrainian citizens. Representatives of the organization took part in the established crisis centers in partnership with state institutions and local authorities in Burgas, Varna, Ruse, BCP "Durankulak", Dobrich, Silistra, Sofia, etc. , where support and assistance was provided to people The BRC has allocated 10,000 Swiss francs from the Disasters, Emergencies and Crises Fund in response to an urgent appeal by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies to support Red Cross activities in Ukraine and conflict-affected countries.seeking protection on the territory of our country.
In partnership with the High Commissioner for Refugees, UNICEF and WHO, the Bulgarian Red Cross has opened 6 Blue Dot Centres across the country to provide legal and psychosocial support to women, children and people at risk who have fled the conflict in Ukraine. So far, nearly 26 000 people have passed through them. Similar centres operate in Romania, Poland and Moldova.
The organization continues to work on all its activities, including projects and programs to help vulnerable groups in our country, including those related to refugees and asylum seekers in our country. The Bulgarian Red Cross is still supporting all those in need through material assistance, financial aid, food parcels, medicines, clothing, social, legal and health counselling.
