The Chairman of the Bulgarian Red Cross Academician Hristo Grigorov awarded donors, partners, volunteers and employees of the Bulgarian Red Cross and Red Crescent at an official ceremony on the occasion of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, May 8 . They were awarded for their significant contribution to the development of the organization and the establishment of its authority.
May 8 is the day of kindness and humanity. It's the day people around the world thank the volunteers and staff in our global movement system. The idea of helping goes back through the ages and reaches today. This is what Hristo Grigorov said in his greeting to the guests of the event. He emphasized that more than 300 million people in over 190 countries celebrate this holiday. " The strength of our organization is that we manage to bring together people who want to help, and the help we give is timely and up-to-date. We succeed because we are together ," added the chairman of the Bulgarian Red Cross and recalled that this year marks the 145th anniversary of the establishment of the Bulgarian Red Cross. " Our organization was created immediately after the Liberation, even before the establishment of the institutions of the state. Years in which, in disasters, crises, war, in difficult social situations, we are among people to help. And today we want to thank you, the media, the business, all the people with big hearts who help ," said Hristo Grigorov in conclusion.
The ceremony was attended by the general director of the BCH, Prof. Dr. Krasimir Gigov, deputy. general directors Dr. Slavita Djambazova, Dr. Nadezhda Todorovska and Krasimira Nikolcheva , representatives of the awarded companies-donors and media , volunteers, employees and figures of the Red Cross.
The distinguished donors who supported various causes of the BCK in 2022 are:
Billa Bulgaria, Shell Bulgaria, Insa Oil, Calcite AD, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Condex Ltd., OMV Bulgaria Ltd., CPA Kem Ltd., Lesaffre Bulgaria, Jupiter 05 Ltd. and J&T Services.
For the active and long-term partnership in the implementation of the activities of the BRC and the National Campaign to help the victims of the conflict in Ukraine, the following were awarded:
bTV Media Group, Bulgarian National Television, NOVA Broadcasting Group, Bulgarian Telegraph Agency and BNR journalist Gergana Hrischeva.
All of them received a certificate of appreciation and a specially made for the occasion honorary sign of humanity with the face of the creator of the Red Cross movement, Henri Dunant , which was presented for the first time.
During the ceremony, volunteers and figures of the organization were honored with the special award of the BCHK - a medal for "Charity": Anton Borisov, a long-time volunteer and chairman of the National Control Commission of the BCHK; Assoc. Dr. Hristo Paunov, member of the National Council of the BCHK, devoted 30 years to volunteering; Dr. Henrietta Ilieva, psychologist and psychotherapist, long-time volunteer of BMCHK; Dr. Sofia Stoimenova, member of the Board of Directors of the IFRC/PE and Chief Secretary of the BCRC and Yasen Slivenski, a long-time employee of the BCRC and director of the Disaster Management Directorate.
On the occasion of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, the National Council of the BRC awarded Siyana Karsheva with the title "Honored Worker of the BRC" and Petar Panayotov with the title "Excellent of the BRC" , chief experts "International Projects" in the Department "Social Activities and services" to the "Social and Health Policy" Directorate.
