BCK reported its activities for 2022
The regular session of the 67th General Assembly, which took place on June 2 and 3, 2023, was opened by the chairman of the BCH, Academician Hristo Grigorov, who welcomed the delegates and introduced the official guests - representatives of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent and Macedonian Red Cross.
Greetings were received from the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, from the Prime Minister Galab Donev, from the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor and Social Policy Lazar Lazarov, from the Minister of Health Dr. Asen Medzhidiev, from the Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov and from Deputy - Minister of Internal Affairs Nikolay Nikolov.
In their congratulatory addresses and addresses to the delegates, the official guests gave high praise for the way in which the Bulgarian Red Cross manages to mobilize all its resources in difficult and critical moments and provides irreplaceable support to state institutions. The assessment of the organization's work in helping vulnerable groups and in providing humanitarian aid not only in Bulgaria but also around the world is also unanimous.
Academician Hristo Grigorov expressed his gratitude to all Red Cross workers for their hard work and dedication and made a detailed analysis of the organization's activities in 2022. The balance sheet shows that the number of volunteers who practically carry out the organization's mission is more than 16,000. and the members are nearly 140,000 people. In 2022, nearly 301,000 vulnerable persons and 472 institutions were supported with humanitarian aid. Since the beginning of the armed conflict in Ukraine, the BRC has activated plans for action in the event of migrant pressure. It was organized to send 15 trucks with 230 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine, and through the National Campaign to help those affected by the conflict, more than 170,000 people were assisted with the participation of more than 7,000 volunteers and employees of the BRC. Over 100,000 people and over 50 hospitals and healthcare facilities have been supported with various activities and services under the National Campaign "Together against COVID-19", with the participation of over 9,000 volunteers and employees.
After the flood in Karlovsko, 5,000 victims were helped, financial resources were provided to 400 people. The total number of people assisted with various activities during disasters, accidents and crises in the country is over 10,000 people.
It was reported that the BRC maintains its leading position in the training of various groups of the population in first aid and continues to be a key partner of the state in the implementation of road trauma prevention. For the past year, nearly 67,000 people were trained, including candidate drivers of motor vehicles, teachers, parents and babysitters, employees of companies and the Ministry of the Interior.
In 2022, 2,180 victims received help from the Mountain Rescue Service of the BRC, 15 people received the title of "mountain rescuer" and 12 - "senior mountain rescuer". 4,853 people were saved from drowning, and nearly 53,000 were trained in water trauma prevention programs. 585 are the new lifeguards for the pool and 257 - for the sea.
The role of the Youth Organization of the BRC, which is an alternative for young people, motivates and attracts more and more followers of the ideas of the Red Cross is also indisputable.
