
The Bulgarian Red Cross and the National Center for Transfusion Hematology (NCTC) are once again joining forces to express their deep gratitude to the voluntary and free blood donors. On June 14, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the NCTH (Bratya Miladinovi Str. 112), 15 individual and institutional blood donors from Sofia with a special contribution to the cause will be honored with an honorary plaque. More than 100 people from all over the country will be honored in different areas.
The deserving blood donors, institutions, companies and non-governmental organizations that have contributed to the popularization of blood donation will be awarded by the Deputy General Director of the BCH, Dr. Nadezhda Todorovska, and by representatives of the National Cancer Institute.
This year, the motto of World Blood Donor Day - "Donate blood, donate plasma, share life, do it often!" draws public attention to patients in need of lifelong maintenance therapy with blood and blood components, and the role each of us can play to have to save their lives.
There is no substitute for human blood, and regular blood donation is critical to ensuring a sufficient supply of blood and blood components needed to treat all patients in need.
Anyone who wishes to save a human life can donate blood on World Blood Donor Day from 9:00 a.m. in the building of the National Medical Center at 112 Bratya Miladinovi Street or any other working day from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., as well as on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Let's not forget that patients need blood every day!
