For the third consecutive year, Angel Dimitrov pulled wooden cross from the Black Sea. Traditionally in Varna St. Jordan's day is noted with great interest. Citizens and tourists gather in front of the Cathedral and the procession reaches the sea. There, in front of hundreds of people, cross is thrown into the sea.
Angel is a lifeguard for three years and the last year he managed to help three girls, drowning out simultaneously.

On the beach of the Baba Vida fortress a traditional ceremony was held. The cross was thrown into the Danube waters on the occasion of St. Jordan. BRC - Vidin actively participated providing lifeguards and snack bar. Six volunteers equipped with life jackets and buoys in conjunction with Civil Defense, secured the safety of all who jumped in the icy waters for the extraction of the cross. All enthusiasts who fought for the cross, were greeted with a warm blanket and a cup of tea from Red Cross volunteers.
18-year-old student Nikolai Krastev, who is also national champion in two-seater canoe first managed to reach the cross.
