The Bulgarian Red Cross participates in a consortium for the implementation of a project under the Romania-Bulgaria Cross-Border Cooperation Program with project ROBG-427 "Partnerships for Overcoming Disasters for a Safe Region", abbreviation: POD.
The project is funded by the Cross-border Cooperation Program "INTERREG V-A Romania - Bulgaria 2014 - 2020". More information about the program can be found here https://interregrobg.eu/en/programme/programme-general-data.html
Participating in the project as a leading organization: Giurgiu Regional Government and partners Romanian Red Cross-Giurgiu Branch, Bulgarian Red Cross, Angel Kanchev University of Ruse and Ruse Business and Innovation Cluster (BICR).
The project activities include equipping an operational center at the Giurgiu district administration, research and analysis, round tables and seminars of institutions, training of trainers on raising awareness and preparing the population for floods, conducting information days for students on response and prevention in case of fires and floods, preparation of the population for reaction to floods, training of professionals in the field of reaction to fires and floods, analysis and inventory of forest fire risk areas, equipping a laboratory of the University of Ruse for transferring risk areas on GIS maps, development of a common strategy for prevention and interventions in forest fires in both regions, development of methodologies and others.
The project is implemented on the territory of Ruse district, Bulgaria and Giurgiu district, Romania. By decision of the National Assembly of the Bulgarian Red Cross, the management of the activities performed by the Bulgarian Red Cross is assigned to the Secretariat of the Regional Council of the Bulgarian Red Cross.
