RESILOC aims to study and implement a comprehensive framework of research, methods and software tools that combines the physical with the less tangible aspects of human behavior
The overall goal of RESILOC is to identify new strategies to improve the processes of preparing local communities against any type of risk, planned or unplanned. The project aims to combine the validity and experience of local communities with the strategies and commitments of national and international structures involved in disaster risk reduction, in order to achieve a tangible impact on how sustainability in local communities is understood and strengthened. . Therefore, a comprehensive framework of research, methods and software tools will be developed, combining the physical with the less tangible aspects of human behavior applied at the community level.
The RESILOC consortium consists of 16 qualified partners from seven different EU countries:
ACTIVITIES
1-RESEARCH
• Collection and analysis of literature and stories from the many approaches to sustainability adopted in Europe and around the world;
• Defining and classifying the functions that are crucial for the sustainability of communities, expanding the currently used scope for measuring sustainability in cities (...), including human aspects, such as risk perception and awareness;
• Defining terms, indices and correlations between indices
2 - METHODS AND STRATEGIES
• Evaluation of community sustainability indices, with simulations of the type "what will happen if… measures are taken";
• Identify new and better approaches, for example to communicate with citizens, to reduce the vulnerability of infrastructures, to launch risk awareness campaigns, along with technological solutions that improve the understanding and monitoring of critical infrastructure;
• Local sustainability teams
3 - SOFTWARE TOOLS
• RESILOC online data warehouse - a complete, living structure for collecting, classifying and using information about cities and local communities, implemented in the form of software as a service (SaaS). This will be a live tool for stakeholders wishing to explore and improve sustainability;
• RESILOC cloud-based platform for assessing and calculating sustainability indices of all participating cities or communities, which will help to develop local strategies and verify their impact on community sustainability. The cloud platform, a combination of SaaS and PaaS, includes the main RESILOC storage as a data location.
GOALS
• To improve the understanding of sustainability in society and local communities
• Introduce innovations in strategies to improve sustainability
• Introduce innovations in tools and solutions to improve sustainability in communities
• To disseminate, demonstrate and evaluate the validity of the developed approaches, solutions and tools through field tests
