The European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps ( EVHAC) is an initiative of the European Commission that will set up a mechanism for the participation of European volunteers in international humanitarian aid missions.
The Bulgarian Red Cross is participating in a second pilot project called VinCAB ( Voluneers in Capacity Building Projects ) , in which the leading partners are German, Bulgarian, Finnish, Dutch Red Cross and German Technical Assistance Agency. The project will recruit a total of 45 volunteers who have gained experience in the field of humanitarian aid or civil protection in their own countries. After the training, 25 of these volunteers will be sent on 1-3 month missions in Latin America or Asia, starting in January 2013, where they will apply their experience and lessons learned to build the capacity of local partner organizations.
