Raising the preparedness of older people in the EU for disaster management - PrepAGE
General information
Programs to prepare older people for disaster response are still insufficient. In some countries, there are guidelines on specific requirements for older people in the event of disasters, integrating the needs of the target group in emergencies. Older people face additional risks, including isolation, lack of support, impaired mobility and weakness as a result of higher levels of vulnerability.
The PrepAGE project will identify the needs, structures and measures for the preparation and support of older people in emergencies and disasters. The project will also take into account the resources and resilience of older people and bring together experts from the health, social and disaster management sectors.
Purpose
The aim of the PrepAGE project is to present the special requirements of older people in emergencies and their preparedness for disasters, as well as prevention programs. It is planned to review the existing procedures in the participating organizations and countries. The aim is to introduce different procedures to improve access to the elderly in the event of a disaster. The project envisages the preparation of a plan for emergency assistance and disaster management, together with stakeholders from government agencies, NGOs and civil society. The project will also focus on raising awareness and improving preparedness for assistance and support in the event of an accident or disaster.
Activities and expected results
