On 15 and 16 May 2009 the final session of the 63rd General Assembly and the first session of the 64th General Assembly of the Bulgarian Red Cross took place.
The forum was opened by Hristo Grigorov – President of the organization. Welcoming the participants was made by Torre Svenning - special adviser and a representative of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - Zone Europe. Special greetings to the delegates of the General Assembly were received by the President of Bulgaria - Georgi Parvanov, the Chairman of National Assembly - Georgi Pirinski, Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev, Mayor of Sofia - Boyko Borisov, etc.
During the closing session of the 63rd General Assembly delegates discussed and adopted the reports of the National Council of BRC and the National Control Commission on the work of the organization during the period 2005-2008.
The first session of the 64th General Assembly started with the election of a President, Vice-President, members of the National Council, National Control Commission and Ethical Commission of the BRC. For the third president’s mandate was elected Mr. Hristo Grigorov. His vice-presidents for the period 2009-2013 will be Dr. Valentin Peev and Prof. Zdravko Marinov.
