On the occasion of 150th anniversary from the birth of the Red Cross idea in a small italian village of Solferino a global meeting of the Red Cross Youth took place.
It gathered over 600 representatives from 150 National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent. For three days young people participated workshops on various topics: HIV/AIDS, climate change, migration and discrimination, first aid, etc.
Parallel with the "Youth on the Move” another event was organized - a so called Humanitarian village. Representatives of the BRC were Atanas Tsvetanski - Director of BRCY, Hristo Paunov - Deputy President of the Red Cross organization in Plovdiv and four representatives of the BRC - Burgas. The main activities of national societies were presented.
After "Youth on the Move” meeting started Journey of an Idea and Declaration. Nearly 300 young red Cross members traveled from Solferino to Geneva, tracing the return path of Henry Dunant, to present their declaration to Swiss autorities, and representatives of the United Nations and international organizations. BRCY representative was Anna Izvorska. Programme in Geneva included a visit to the ICRC, IFRC and the Museum of the International Red Cross movement.
