Mountain rescuers are worried about the large number of accidents
The lack of good equipment is the most important reason for accidents which become more frequent in Bulgarian mountains.
“The lack of good equipment is the most important reason for accidents which become more frequent in Bulgarian mountains. 15 emergency calls were received by the Mountain Rescue Service of the BRC for the last two weeks of July. Two of the cases completed by death.” - said on the special press conference Eng. Pencho Babukchiev - the chief of the Mountain Rescue Service. He explained that tourists should pay great attention of wearing good trekking shoes, backpacks and sticks.
MRS has 650 volunteer rescuers, divided into 32 units situated in cities in the foot of the mountains and in the biggest ski resorts. They offered a creation of national helicopter system that would facilitate rescue operations and will give chance to the victims in the mountains for a quick assistance.
