WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR











What has the BRC done so far? What are the results of the BRC's donation campaign? What are the most current needs for humanitarian assistance? Information on these and other issues was provided to the media today by the leadership of the Bulgarian Red Cross and by representatives of the Public Council at a briefing at the headquarters of the organization. The media representatives followed real actions in receiving and processing donations, as well as in supporting Ukrainian citizens who arrived in Bulgaria.









Activities of the Bulgarian Red Cross from the beginning of the hostilities until now:


  • In the period 1-27 March 2022, the Bulgarian Red Cross organized logistically and sent 15 trucks with humanitarian aid through the Ukrainian Red Cross with over 220 tons of donations raised under the National Campaign of the Bulgarian Red Cross - clothes, blankets, bedding, shoes, medicines and consumables, hygiene materials, etc.

  • More than 2,500 volunteers and employees of the Bulgarian Red Cross took part in the acceptance and processing of donations.

  • Funds raised as of April 12, 2022 - BGN 3,723,868.

  • More than 50,000 Ukrainian citizens arrived in Bulgaria with the help of basic necessities - food, water, warm blankets, bedding, clothes, shoes, baby food and toys, medicines and consumables, hygiene materials, etc./.

  • The BRC works together with the responsible state institutions in the crisis centers in the country . In Burgas the Bulgarian Red Cross is part of the crisis center and together with the District Administration there is a station in the Sea Station , in Varna children's hygiene packages are provided every morning in the Crisis Center in the Sports Hall , in Ruse - the Bulgarian Red Cross is a major part of field organizations. discovered 2 points on the Danube bridge, 1 point on the railway mountain . Checkpoints have been opened in Dobrich and Silistra , in Sofia / on the Central Railway. station / s at the Headquarters of the Bulgarian Red Cross.

  • The Bulgarian Red Cross has also started providing individual financial assistance to those arriving from Ukraine under the Rules for Granting Financial Aid to Ukrainian Citizens, adopted by the Commission for Management of Fundraised for the National Campaign of the Bulgarian Red Cross, agreed with the Public Council. They provide financial aid depending on the needs of Ukrainian citizens - buy prescription drugs, food and hygiene packages of first necessity, pay for medical care / such as transporting a child with a severe diagnosis to a hospital in Germany / .

  • Currently, 12,800 food packages worth BGN 800,000 are being prepared.

  • The Bulgarian Red Cross continues to provide from its Disaster Reserve folding beds with mattresses, blankets, sets of bed linen, pillows for the needs of Ukrainians accommodated in hotels , in bases of state and municipal institutions, in crisis centers and others.

  • Revealed:


- National hotline 0800 1 1466 for counseling and psychosocial support - assisted by more than 650 people.

- National hotline 0800 20 101 on health issues, together with the Ministry of Health - assisted over 300 people.


  • An electronic register of proposals for accommodation of Ukrainian citizens is available on the website of the Bulgarian Red Cross.

  • Built into the website of the Bulgarian Red Cross is a link for sign language translation for Ukrainian for arriving people with hearing problems.

  • The Bulgarian Red Cross receives and processes applications for the restoration of family ties / for members of separated families /, provides wireless routers at the checkpoints, chargers, SIM cards with mobile internet .

  • The BRC works in coordination with the International Red Cross Movement, the Ukrainian Red Cross and national societies in Europe.
